The Laws of War in the American Civil War

The new laws of war were formed as a result of a serious conflict and became one of the most important legacies of the American civil war, not only in the United States of America, but throughout the world during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The law of war represents those parts of international law that relate to the beginning, conduct and cessation of hostilities. The article analyzes such laws of war as the law on the treaty, the law on custom, the laws on conscription in the civil war, the law on civil rights from 1866. The main aspects of the American Civil War were also highlighted and characterized. The Civil War was the most traumatic episode in the history of the United States.
